Family Adventure Day in La Jolla

Brittany got engaged on March 29th in Utah.  We were so excited to get her home to see the ring and spend some quality time with her.  On her visit home, she wanted to check out the San Diego Temple as part of her wedding preparations.  So, we decided to make a family fieldtrip day out of it.  I did a little research into what La Jolla has to offer and found some fun things.

Sunny Jim's cave is one of seven sea caves found in La Jolla.  This is the only one accessible by land. You enter through a tunnel carved back in 1902 that contains 135 steps down into the cave. A little spooky for a claustrophobe like myself, but nevertheless a fun little spelunking opportunity for the family.

La Jolla Cove offers spectacular views of Sea Lions lounging on the rocks and some beautiful coastal scenery.  The Sea Lions are fun to watch as they jostle for position in the sun.  This is a photographers playground.  Brett snapped some beautiful photos on this day, and I wish I could post them all.

La Jolla Cove is also home to a colony of Harbor Seals that have taken over a childrens beach.  They were our favorite as we were allowed to go onto the beach with them as long as we kept a small distance.  They were very cute and much less aggressive than the Sea Lions we encountered.  What an amazing, adventurous and beautiful day we had!
