Memorial DayThis year we wanted to do something to help our kids remember the purpose of Memorial Day and remembering our veterans.  The City of Fountain Valley has a nice monument honoring those who gave their lives for our country. They also have a piece of the World Trade Center and a monument honoring those heroes who lost their lives  on September 11, 2001. This was a good opportunity for us to talk about the sacrifices that have been made for our freedoms.  It also prompted a good discussion about our grandfathers who served in the military.  I'm grateful to have these meaningful moments with my children.

Solar Eclipse
On May 19th  as the sun was going down, we had a solar eclipse.  Brett took this picture from our back yard.
