It all started on October 15th. It was a serious and unimaginable event that took place between two rival schools competing for a football win. Warren County High underwent a forceful football game against Hancock High during the Friday night of October 15th. And luckily for them they came out with a great win. But as the team and coaches headed back to their locker rooms they were not expecting what awaited them. The rival school players and fans were silently there, planning an attack.

“It seems like they were just waiting there.” Says Carole jean Carey, Warren County’s superintendent. She said that when they arrived at the lock room they found the doors locked, and then they were suddenly ambushed. They were barrage with trash and food from fans and players surrounding them and then suddenly the charge came. "We saw everything break out, and our coach ran in to the middle of it where helmets were being used as weapons," Carole Jean Carey told WRDW. It was an event that no one expected. They were being ambushed and coaches were caught in the middle of it.

Coach Daniel of Warren County High saw one of his players hit from behind with a helmet by the rival school. When confronting the player to stop, the player turned and began smashing his own face in. Coach Daniel was rushed to the hospital where he had to undergo major surgery to stitch up his face and rearrange his broken bones. Although this would just be the start of the hatred between schools.

It was just recently that Warren County High canceled a regional playoff game forfeiting. They claimed that it was because they did not want to risk anything. They did not want to go into a deadly situation to possibly be injured. Although the basketball team voluntarily forfeited the game many of the students were angered and upset at the decision. "Today, we out here basically just to get our voices heard," Warren County senior Ed'Ricus Williams told. "We feel like nothing bad would happen. We feel like it would be a good game like it always is."

“Whether or not it would’ve been a good game or not, there is just too much bad blood.”Replied Jean Carey. She simply does not want to repeat the past, to bring up what happened. She has tried several times to switch their brackets and avoid playing their long time rivals but it just is not happening.

Whether or not they will ever be switched, or this scenario will pass over, all that is known is that there is defiantly school hatred between the two. No one will ever be able to possible play out the future events of what is to happen. We can only hope for the best between the two schools so that their history may live on in a positive matter without having it ending on a negative note. But whether or not that happens one thing is for sure, that what happened on the field that Friday night can never be forgotten and precious steps must be taken in the future to prevent anything like that from happening again.
