Return to Catalina
When Brett and I were dating, he took me to Catalina for a day trip. We took bicycles and rode around Avalon. That is the day we talked about a possible future together and I remember being giddy over spending time with this boy on this beautiful island. I have always wanted to return and visit. This year was the year. Our 22nd anniversary and the planets aligned. After getting the kids off to school, we headed down the Balboa Peninsula and boarded the Catalina Flyer at 9:00 in the morning and were on the island by 10:30 a.m. Instead of bicycles, we opted for the more age appropriate golf carts. The day was absolutely beautiful and sunny and we took many amazing photographs. It was nice to get away and reconnect and remember times that brought us together. By 6:00 that evening we were home with the kids for dinner. How fortunate we felt to live in a place where a day trip to a tropical island is an actual possibility.

After our golf cart explorations, we had a nice lunch, we got ice cream and enjoyed some beach time. This is the very beach we sunned ourselves on 22 years ago. It was so fun to have those memories come back to us.
The sunset over Catalina on our boat ride home was spectacular. It was the perfect ending to an amazing anniversary day trip. Happy 22nd to us!
