Want a healthy snack? Then pass over the fruit, veggies and popcorn! Popcorn? Ohh yes.. Popcorn! A new study by the American Chemical Society of San Diego shows that the amount of polyphenols in popcorn is 300 milligrams per serving compared to the 114 mg per serving of sweet corn and 160 mg per serving for all fruits. What does this mean? In other words this means that whole-grain treats such as popcorn contain more of the “good for you” antioxidants then most fruits and vegetables.
You know what that means! From now on when your mom tells you to go get a healthy snack from the pantry you can now have a real excuse to get the POPCORN!!
