The Bed Skirt Shuffle

It may be that you had to be there, but at the time it made me think of that old “Who is on first’ skit. I’ll try to do it justice.

We are pushing forward with things around here. Items continue to arrive at our warehouse where they are being ‘staged’ for the room project. However, we are still fine tuning some items. I’ll include a picture of the latest version of the wooden valance, but there will be one more adjustment to it before that is declared final. At the same time, we received a new sample of drape panels and bed skirt from yet another vendor. For the bed skirt, it is the third one and this is where our game, bed skirt shuffle begins.

We originally received a skirt several months back (well call it from vendor M1). It was installed in our king sample room and we all paraded through forming an opinion and providing feedback to our designer lady at corporate. Our housekeeping ladies made some valid points about its construction and a second sample was procured from a different vendor. That arrived a few weeks after and we installed it in our other sample room with two queen beds (we’ll call this vendor M2). Our team did the customary walk through. We tugged and pulled and this way and that and it we all decided we liked this one better. Last week the samples arrived that I mentioned before with yet another bed skirt (vendor M3). We installed it in a regular room and immediately decided it was not good. We got the call that we needed to switch that skirt to the king sample room because that room had the new puffier bed and the non-sample room has the old bed that is skinnier, which made the skirt look too long and it did not ‘lay’ properly. So we took the skirt from vendor M3, which was in room 217 and moved it to the king sample room 219 and took the skirt from that room, which came from vendor M1 and took it to room 217. The call came from the corporate office to provide feedback. We all said we liked M1 better than M3. So they reminded us that we had originally liked M2 better than M1. My staff was a little confused because we had flipped the skirts between those two rooms. In the end we had to take the team, look at all of them again and provide feedback. M1 who was in 217 was originally in 219, M3 had been originally installed in 217 was now in 219 and M2 has been in 221 all along…We still liked M2 best but we had not taken into account the cost of the skirts, which can make a difference when you are ordering over four hundred…but that is another story! Confused yet?
